River City Baseball Holdings Acquires River City Skippers

Elizabeth City, NC River City Baseball Holdings, LLC, led by team principals Adam Swain and Andy Lewis, is proud to announce their acquisition of controlling interest in the River City Skippers from BALLRED, LLC. This purchase marks a significant and continued investment in Elizabeth City and the surrounding Albemarle region as well as the future development of summer collegiate baseball in the area.

The River City Skippers, a wood-bat summer collegiate team, compete in the Old North State League and are based in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. The team plays its home games at Holmes Field at Knobbs Creek, providing high-quality baseball entertainment for local fans and visitors alike.

"We are thrilled to take the helm for the River City Skippers and build upon the team's success in Elizabeth City," said Swain. "This purchase represents our commitment to investing in Northeast North Carolina and fostering the growth of baseball culture in our community."

Swain and Lewis will also serve together as General Manager of the Skippers. Jack Colagiovanni returns this year as Head Coach; Noah Cartwright will also continue in his current role as Director of Baseball Operations. New staff additions will be announced in the coming weeks.

Alec Allred, CEO of BALLRED, LLC, added, “I couldn’t be more excited that River City Baseball Holdings has acquired controlling interest in the River City Skippers. For a long time, I’ve believed that this team needed local ownership, and I can’t think of two better people to lead the way than Adam Swain and Andy Lewis. The Old North State League has seen incredible growth, and we are thrilled about what the future holds for the Skippers and the Elizabeth City community!”

The Skippers have quickly become an integral part of Elizabeth City's sports landscape, offering exciting baseball action featuring top college players from around the country. River City Baseball Holdings, LLC plans to enhance the fan experience, strengthen community partnerships, and build on the team's mission of excellence on and off the field.

“The success of this team is ultimately going to be built on the strength of our partnerships and the support of our fans,” continued Swain. “Our primary goal Day 1 is to build a strong foundation of community support, and then use that foundation to take the Skippers, local baseball, and our community to new heights. We’re excited to get the guys out there and compete this summer. We didn't get as many wins as we would have liked last year, but we know if we go out there and put in the work, the wins will follow. Noah has been doing an excellent job putting together a roster our community can be proud of. And we know, Jack is going to help develop these young men as ball players.”

The Skippers 2025 season opens May 31. For more information about the River City Skippers and upcoming events, please visit www.rivercityskippers.com or follow on social media.
